IN HONOR OF THE HEROES OF SEPTEMBER 11th, 2001
And To Ensure That Their Sacrifices Are Never Forgotten
Our Resveratrol is called "LET'S ROLL", which is a colloquialism used as a proclamation to move forward and proceed with an action, attack or venture and conveys a sense of readiness and enthusiasm. They were the last recorded words of passenger Todd Beamer on board United Airlines Flight 93 during the September 11 attacks in 2001, before he and other passengers attempted to storm the cockpit and retake the plane from the hijackers. The slogan subsequently became a battle cry for American forces during the war on terror.
Our intent in dedicating this product to the heroes of September 11 is not to capitalize on this attack on the United States over 20 years ago, but strictly for remembrance of the heroes and to NEVER FORGET. Those heroes include firefighters, police officers, paramedics, doctors, nurses, military members and ordinary civilians, who risked their lives to help others.
Extraordinary courage and selflessness was shown that day. Firefighters and law enforcement officers running into the burning World Trade Center buildings, rescuing hundreds of people. Civilian and military personnel displayed exceptional bravery and selflessness at the Pentagon with many running towards danger to assist victims and leading others through the burning, smoldering Pentagon rubble to safety. Passengers of Flight 93 who fought back against hijackers to prevent them from reaching their intended target. Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics worked tirelessly to triage and transport the injured under dangerous conditions. Search and rescue dogs and their handlers played a critical role in the aftermath of the attacks, working to locate survivors and victims amidst the rubble. These selfless acts of sacrifice defined that day as much, if not more so than the attacks themselves.
The attacks killed 2,977 people, almost 10,000 were injured, some severe, and the attack continues to significantly affect people through lingering physical (more people have died from their toxic exposure from 9/11 than were killed on that terrible day) and mental health conditions.
At the World Trade Center, 2,753 died including many first responders, the greatest loss of emergency responders on a single day in American history. The Trade Center fatalities included the 87 passengers and crew of American Airlines Flight 11 and the 60 aboard United Airlines Flight 175.
Most of the 343 firefighters and paramedics lost were from the Fire Department City of New York (www.firehero.org/remembering-9-11/), the New York City Police Department lost 23 officers (www.nyc.gov/site/nypd/about/memorials/9-11-tribute.page).
The Port Authority Police Department lost 37 officers (voicescenter.org/living-memorial/memorials/port-authority-911-memorial).
In addition, numerous other agencies, including the New York State Police, New York State Court Officers, New York City Department of Corrections and the FBI, also had personnel on the scene and suffered losses.
In the Pentagon, 125 military and civilian personnel were killed and 59 passengers and crew aboard American Airlines Flight 77 (https://pentagonmemorial.org/meet-the-heroes/)
40 passengers and crew aboard United Airlines Flight 93 were killed when the passengers revolted against the hijackers. (https://www.nps.gov/flni/learn/historyculture/crew-and-passengers.htm)
Out of respect for these heroes, we will not use the term "Let's Roll" or the date of September 11 to advertise our products, only for the name of our resveratrol.
